On September 24, Casa Dragones was honored to be part of the opening of Exposición de Otoño at Museo Jumex, an evening that brought together extraordinary exhibitions: La Petite Mort by Gabriel de la Mora, The Tiger’s Coat, and works by Elsa-Louise Manceaux.

The night began with an intimate walkthrough of La Petite Mort, a thematic exhibition spanning two decades of Gabriel de la Mora’s practice. Known for his alchemical transformation of materials — from the delicate assembly of butterfly wings and human hair into geometric compositions, to the recovery of weathered ceilings and the erosive forces of fire and water — de la Mora creates surfaces that oscillate between fragility and seduction.

Curated by Tobias Ostrander, La Petite Mort explores unconscious impulses, weaving together reflections on death and ecstatic pleasure. The exhibition unfolds through six thematic axes — the body, erasure, heat, desire’s edge, touch, and the pleasure of the spectator — positioning de la Mora’s work within both intimate and universal registers. After its presentation in Mexico City, the exhibition will travel to Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO).

Throughout the evening, guests had the rare opportunity to engage directly with the artist. Casa Dragones Joven, served neat, accompanied the celebration, marking a toast to artistry, community, and the beginning of a new cultural season in Mexico City.
