A Night in the Clouds.

As Saturday’s storm rolled over Water Mill, the Parrish Art Museum’s Midsummer Gala became even more atmospheric. Director Mónica Ramírez-Montagut led a night honoring philanthropist Ellen Katz and artists Enoc Perez, Joan Semmel, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Pat Steir in memoriam.

More than 700 guests filled the museum’s remarkable galleries, surrounded by Sanford Biggers’ cloud sculptures from his installation Unsui (Cloud Forest) and Emmi Whitehorse’s paintings, with Casa Dragones in hand. Parsons Dance performed as the light faded, the storm lending the evening a mood no production could have planned.

From the beginning, Casa Dragones has supported artists and the institutions that bring their work to wider audiences. The night raised more than $1.7 million for the Parrish’s exhibitions, education initiatives, and access programs across the East End.

Coco Cloudy Margaritas and Mexpresso Martinis carried the Afterglow through midnight.

An unforgettable evening for an extraordinary museum. Until next time, @parrishartmuseum.
